I have to teach about the Age of Reason or Enlightenment in France before the French Revolution. My kids are in 10th grade and really don't want to learn. Anyone have any suggestions of some lessons without it getting boring?

Set them on a video hunt. Give them the basics, tell them they have to find a video that best captures the period. If they can justify it, you will show it. You could do the same with video games. What video game is a metaphor for the French Revolution? If there isnt one, how would they design it. OR do a Jerry Springer show with the philosophers arguing the role of man in state. Find plays that the students can act out. 10th graders love plays.
