Hi if your partner is having night sweats and is also skinny, he should have his Thyroid levels checked, this is a classic sign of over active thyroid, good luck.

What you're describing is "night sweats." Just about the time the person begins to fall asleep, they will be drenched in sweat almost to the point as if water was poured over them. It has nothing to do with being unclean or rarely being too hot.

One suggestion is to lay a towel across the pillow and where the back of the person lies to absorb excess moisture.

Night sweats generally are caused by one or two more common reasons and several other lessor ones. One main reason is medication. Several medications including some pain medications are notorious for causing night sweats.

If your partner is taking any medication, look up the side-effects. If you can rule out medications, your partner should see a doctor and tell him/her what is going on to see why it's happening.

Another major cause of night sweats is an illness. If you have ruled out medication and this condition continues, your partner should seek medical attention to see what's actually going on to cause this.

Its known as Night Sweats and its more common then you know. In some cases it is an indication that something medically is not right. Sometimes it can be heart issues. He needs to see the doctor who will refer him to a sleep clinic for observation. I would not delay in this as nipping things in the bud can save big trouble later on.

I went through a phase where i kept waking up and the back of my neck would be soaked even when it was cold, id have to tie my hair up off my neck and take my t-shirt off. I always seem to overheat at night. I also went through a phase wear id get hot flushes during the day.

I went to my GP, and he did a blood test to rule out thyroid problems or hormonal problems. You should tell him to see a doctor.
