Before 1975 or so, it was thought that the strong nuclear force was mediated by muons and pions. That is, an exchange of virtual muons and pions were the way to represent the strong force, analogous to electromagnetic forces being mediated by virtual photons.

It turns out that this idea was actually in error as far as muons were concerned, and as far as pions is concerned, the paradigm shift resulting from the success of quantum chromodynamics changed the nomenclature: the fundamental nuclear particles are now quarks, and they are held together by gluons. In the unification of electromagnetism, weak and strong forces, the strong force is a kind of side effect of quark/gluon interaction.

The stable and susceptible stress are the two commonplace forces interior of our universe. The the two act on the nucleus of atoms yet in different procedures. stable - This stress holds Quarks, the components that make up the proton and neutron in atoms, at the same time. The stable interplay is named stable because of the fact its the main effective of the 4 commonplace forces and has a common potential one hundred circumstances better than the Electromagnetic stress. The stress binds the nucleus at the same time and in basic terms acts on short distances, the ability of this stress is seen while a nuclear bomb is spark off because of the fact the atomic nucleus is cut up and the ability is lost. susceptible - The susceptible interplay (many times called the susceptible stress or now and returned the susceptible nuclear stress) is likely one in each of the 4 commonplace interactions of nature. Its maximum huge-unfold effect is beta decay (of neutrons in atomic nuclei) and the linked radioactivity. The notice susceptible derives from the actuality that the common field potential is 10^-13 the potential of the stable stress. intimately the susceptible interplay is the only interplay able to adjusting quark style and is by technique of the substitute of heavy W and Z bosons.

No. The particles involved are called quarks and the force carrying particles are called gluons.
