Earthquakes of all magnitudes come as a swarm, foreshock, main shock and aftershock in continuity. The separation is only possible after the main shock has been identified from the seismograms.
There could be another swarm or series from a different source.

It depends upon the place and situation. Earthquake is nothing but the release of energy at the tectonic plate boundary. If the released energy is much less than accumulated stress than there is a chance of another earthquake may hit shortly. Other wise you may feel very small after shock effects. You can under stand from this fact that the surface of tectonic plates will be smooth if the earth quake struck that place after very long time . Therefore there may not be appreciable obstruction in the first incident of earthquake. But if a place is experiencing regular earthquakes the place may not be affected by very big earth quakes.But you will feel the earthquake very often with small magnitude. It is good for the country.
