Raphael Catfish are nocturnal. Most of their activity is at night when you are sleeping. Make sure he has a nice little hiding play sucks as a cave or rock to hide under. Before you go to bed, feed your fish but a little more than usual this time so your catfish can have some. (Your talking catfish eats fishflakes along with many other kinds of food) Turn the light off and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, your tank bottom will be clean as can be because these fish keep the bottom of your tank squeaky clean. I have 2 and they are like little night janitors. You will probably never see them eat, but that's ok cause when you do see them. They are cool little suckers. But watch out, because if you one day wake up to find one of your neon tetras mysteriasly missing, he's the one to blame. They may take a long time to grow, but they will eat anything that fits in their mouth. The main reason of deaths of these fish is over feeding. They dont stop untill they are out. Thats why your tank will be so clean.

Heres a website that will tell you everything you need to know about your talking catfish.

OH and the reason he doesnt eat when you push the food up to him is because he is trying to be still because he thinks you dont see him. Like i said, he hides during the day. if you do not have a propper hiding place for him, he will become stressed. But make sure you dont go outside and get him a rock or two. This will make the pH and the namonia skyrocket! (past expirience) Go buy something cheap.

GOOD LUCK

You could try a food that floats too the bottom.I feed my pictus catfish some shrimp pellets along with flakes and occasionally blood worms.

If i were you i would call the place you purchaced him and ask them what THEY fed him. usually they feed the fish something standard. It may just be a matter of transitioning him to a new type of food. You could also try the sinking pellets.
