My step daughter and kids moved in with us--it has been 3 months. Not once has she cooked a meal (not to mention not do the dishes) So Weds morning I went on strike and said i was not cooking until you cook a meal. So weds no dinner when she got home, she went with the kids to Mc D's , the same for Thursday. Today she was off,as was I and she said she would make a meat loaf. She got the ingredients, it is now 5:30 and there is no meatloaf prepared, not even mixed, she is out sitting in the sun. Should I get up and make it or should I stay on strike? I know she is not going to do it.

Your step-daughter and her kids... where is your husband in all of this? Why are you allowing her to free-load in your house? She can afford McDonald's so she can afford to go to the grocery store and buy some real food. Three months? I would have put her out two months ago.
You are being USED!!!

Stay on the strike. She will never learn otherwise. She needs to realise that you cannot fetch and carry for her and be her housemaid! She needs to make a contribution and not expect to be mollycoddled! Stay on the strike, she will cook eventually. Leave the ingredients like that and see what happens.

This is touchy situation one day just sit down with the young lady and talk politely but let her know that any help around the kitchen area would be appreciated - if the next week is the same and she still isn't helping. Go to the root of the problem , HUBBY , he should have a talk with her. IF all else fells buy a good 14" cast iron frying pan and put the FEAR OF MOM OR GOD INTO EVERYONE!!!!! GOOD LUCK.

STAY ON STRIKE, for God's sake! cook just for yourself. when she bought the ingredients and didn't cook them, her message to you was 'cook the meat loaf because I know you are going to give in and because I am lazy and a user'. make a plan to throw her out. who is she to treat you like a maid?!!!!!

People can't wipe their feet on you unless you first lay down on the floor.
Rules should have been made BEFORE she moved in with you such as what was expected from her financially, what she was expected to contribute to housekeeping chores and when she planned on moving back out.
You can sit down and discuss this with her now. It's your home. If she doesn't agree, you can either continue to allow her to wipe her feet on you, or move her out.

You should stand firm on what you said, if you don't she'll walk all over you for the rest of your relationship.
