A couple months ago (before winter came), i regretfully broke a glass bottle on a sidewalk then kicked the tiny broken glass on to the grass. Looking back now i feel terrible, because i always think some dog will come along and get cut by stepping on the glass. I know sometimes that glass is consumed by the ground just like rocks over time, and that dog paws have very thick skin and shouldn't be harmed. But i keep thinking to myself that it WILL hurt a dog and that this is all my fault...i try and try to forget aobut it but i just feel worse and worse everyday? What's wrong with me? What can i do to make this better?

Well know that the dog won't get hurt. Also, try picking up a glass bottle next time and put it to the side so you know you learned from a mistake. Prove to yourself that you won't do it again. If you know you won't do it again, you know that your mistake was made dibertly.

You are a caring person. That is wonderful. If it really bothers you, go back and look if you can see any glass. If you cannot, it probably is in the grass pretty deep. You cannot change that. NOW, when you are walking, if you see something, pick it up, make up for it. Always remember to wash your hands. If possible, carry along a glove to pick up whatever your picking up. You will feel better. Most people do this without a conscious. You are a good person. Remember that.

Difficult to forget the past. Dwelling on it does not help. Learning from it is the best route forward. Think about all the huglier things you could have done and have not done. Accept you are not a bad person for having done something really silly once. And move on. Do you want to do that?

Well everything happen for a reason and you need to just forget it and try not to do it again. Since you learned from your mistake and feel bad about it than I think you wont do it again. Just try to forget it or you'll miss things happening around you now and regret it.

The past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it. ~Wendell Berry

dont do it the next time the opportunity comes along.

Try and concentrate on the future, it's the only place you can look forward too.
