Wow, this is an awesome question. Seriously, thanks. :]

The way I see it, there's a scale of these "cute" and "pretty" things. I call it the Hotness Scale...

1- Uggers. Yuck! See Hilary Duff.
2- Room for a lotttt of improvement. See Lindsay Lohan.
3- Could be cute if she/he tried. See any of the fifth graders at my school.
4- Slightly cute. See Dakota Fanning.
5- Very close to cute. See Abigail Breslin.
6- Cute. See Miley Cyrus.
7- Very cute. See Emily Osment.
8- Pretty. See Reese Witherspoon.
9- Hot. If you are a guy, see Jessica Alba or Christina Millian. If you are a girl, see Orlando Bloom or Mika.
10- Gorgeous. See someone gorgeous.

I read in a magazine:::
CUTE-Cute is when a girl looks soft and sweet. Her cheeks are glowing and blushing, her hair is soft and shiny, her smile is big and bright...
So I guess 'cute' people would be considered nice, innocent, friendly, sweet, and kind folks. They have captured hearts of many.
PRETTY-Pretty is when a girl looks put together. Her chin is defined and lean, she has flawless hair, she smells good, her eyes are big and shiny...
'Pretty' people sound to me like they are a bit older than 'cute' people...Doesn't it?

So there you have it, a magazine's definition of CUTE and PRETTY!
But it's not neccessarily true! So no hard feelings to anybody out there!
=)

Cute has a youthful attitude towards it, and it generally involves the perosnality as well. "She's so cute", usually means the girl has a youthful spirit. Pretty is someone who doesn't exhibit as much youthfulness, but is physically appealing. In my opinion anyway.

cute should only be used in references to small children, babies, puppies, etc. I hate being called cute. makes me feel juvenile as a 31 year old.

In my opinion cute people have that little something extra about them. You might not be able to pick exactly what it is but you know there is something.

cute is usually for more juvenile, babyish look. like if your wearing a light pink floral babydoll dress w/ white flats and pigtails, its cute. if your wearing a red halter dress w/ heels and long luxurious hair, its pretty.
