Let's legalize them all, tax them all and regulate the business. At the same time up the education of all of these drugs, including alcohol in our schools and raise the number of clinics in the country to deal with addiction. It would be much more practical and pragmatic to do this than filling our prisons with drug addicts, which costs us alot more money and has more overall costs to society as a whole.

Good question.
I know for a fact that cocaine is accepted medically at the federal level and marijuana is not. Strange isn't it? Marijuana is recently being supported by a few states medically. Alchohol and Tobacco is free. These are oddities in US law.

The bottom line is that all of those drugs are harmful. There is no disputing this. It is a silly question to ask even. Its like asking what is more harmful? a .50 calibur bullet (big) or the .22 calibur bullet (small)? They can both kill you and/or mess up your life severely.

Making harmful drugs legal on the other hand is a different issue here. I believe people should have the common sense to do whatever they feel like. So at first glance I would say that all drugs should be free. But a lot of people ignore their common sense and get severely messed up and it is an eye sore and I have to pay taxes for these idiots which infringes on my freedom a lot. These addicts are very socially destructive. I have a friend who is a clinical psychologist in the San Francisco area of California. He told me stories of people whose brains are just so fried from using drugs that they have departed from reality completely. Their entire nural networks are severed. All different types of drugs he tells me from alchohol to cocaine and heroin to methamphetamines. Then you get those people who are trying to quit cigarettes. To make a long story short, he is just sick of treating people with drug issues. His job is all about drugs today. He rarely gets someone with a legitimate psychological problem.

So, the final answer to your question "...should the top 4 be legal, too?" is none of them should be legal.

Legalize all, tax all. true freedom. The tax revenues could pay off the massive national debt. Half the people that had no idea what they were doing would overdose. The other half would get hooked. Armed Robbery would run rampant. It would serve as instant population control. Less people to house in prison. Less people to take prime real estate, less people on welfare and less to take up good jobs

I agree with Moltar, tobacco is much more addicting than alcohol. More addicting than marijuana, too.

I abhor the idiots putting crap in their veins, but I won't stop them. I don't want to help them either, they made that choice.

The states should decide what substances are to be banned, it is just ridiculous that our federal taxes are wasted on such nonsense as to what weed people grow and smoke. Where is the logic? There is absolutely NONE.

Shouldn't it work the other way, the less dangerous being allowed? I mean, assuming we want to maintain laws on these substances. Of course, there are plenty of people who want to make tobacco and alcohol illegal too.

Imagine a place where a figure we shall call "GOD" has allowed everything on the planet for human consumption and use.

Then imagine a government taking up resident in that place and outlawing certain consumption and use of these things this person called "GOD" has given you.

Legalise everything because at one point in our existence our God made them legal to do as we please. Abuse of substances is down to the individual and how weak they are.

Here's a cool fact for ya: Prescription drugs kill more people than terrorism. And it's Big Business! Also, more kids are now popping pills than smoking pot. You see where we're headed don't you?

The reason alcohol is legal is bascially because of the mafia activity that took place during Prohibition.

Frankly, I think tobacco is far more addictive than alcohol.
