When your P46 is sent to the Tax Office they will then trace your Prev Pay & Tax from Previous Employer.

Then the figure is USUALLY conveyed to your new employer, as:
Total Earned in Current Year:
Total Tax Deducted in current Year

But as we are nearing the end of Tax Year
this means that your New employer will not need to be told Prev Year Pay & Tax Details

You can fill in a P46 but it may take a while for your tax to be sorted out.
