Just be polite and professional. The ruder they get...the nicer you should be. I think that irritates them even more.

I deal with rude and angry customers face to face so I undertand where you come from. The best thing to do is ignore the anger /rudeness in the voice and have a happy one yourself - it puts them at ease. Then just be polite and importantly listen to what they're talking about so to answer their question the best way you can. Try not to get angry yourself, remember they rang you so you're providing them with something they need.Above all keep cool and don't let it get to you - they don't know you personally so don't take it that way! There seems to be more and more rude people out there every day - it's almost like they have a right to be and its ok people like you and me have to put up with it !

Hi

I can agree with you even though I work the help desk at my job same thing but not with everyone . Sometimes people are upset before they even call you and they may not mean to be rude or take it out on you but they do .

How do you handle them type of folks . Kill them with kindness answer their questions , direct their calls whatever the case may be .

Take care
C

Kill them with kindness. Remain courteous and professional, but do not allow them to curse at you or insult you personally.

Respond to such abuse by stating calmly: Sir/Ma'am, I'm interested in helping you resolve this issue today. Will you help me do that by answering my questions?

Empathize with them if they've been inconvenienced, and they may calm down. Sometimes that is all they need. Remind yourself it isn't personal.
Pat yourself on the back when you handle a call well. I promise it works!

Unfortunately it's part of the job. What you can do is try to keep them calm and don't let them ruin your day.
