My friend "Penny" and I have been friends for 15 years but she is such a drama queen that she is extremely hard to be around. She drives drunk on a regular basis and is proud to snort crack. She doesn't think its affecting her and me and some other friends have tried to confront her but is in denial. She also lies ALOT. I have tried to pull away from her but I am not an overly social person and am feeling lonely. What are your tips socializing shy people?

Start with the basics.
Tell her what she is doing. If you have told her then it is up to her to take on the responsiblility of getting better. Driving drunk is a serious matter and you shouldn't want to be around that kind of conduct.
You are going to have to be strong in order to pull away from her, but take my advice it works and your life will be so much greater for it.
I understand that it will hurt like crazy to lose a friend at first, but is that who you really want to be friends with?
Take time to heal, take alot of time to mourn the loss of the friendship and time with heal you on its own. I promise.
Hope this helps.

If your friend "Penny" doesn't want help then you should pull away. I know its hard especially since you've been friends with her for so long. I had the same problem last year I knew her since we were born and she started getting involved is drugs and i didnt know what to do because i was also shy. Its really difficult but what i did that maybe you should consider doing is maybe join a club or do a sport. You have to be agressive in making new friends, it will work out.

If she is truly your friend and one of fifteen years then you should be completely able to explain to her that her "Toxic" behavior is having an uneasy effect on you. Let her know you care and you might discover that there is a deep rooted reason for her behavior.
"Be her friend for you may be the only thing keeping her from going over the edge into no return".
Good Luck
