I believe the name of the group Jimmy hart was in was The Gentrys.

Yes, he was part of the group, The Gentrys, who got their start in Memphis, TN, in 1963. The original group was made up of seven members: vocalist Bruce Bowles, saxophonist Bobby Fisher, trumpet player Jimmy Johnson, bassist Pat Neal, vocalist Larry Raspberry, drummer Larry Wall, and of course Hart who was also a vocalist.

Their debut album made into the top 100 and they were pretty successful until they broke up in 1966. Hart decided to resurrect the band in 1969, featuring himself as lead vocalist and was still relatively successful, but again the band didn't stick together for very long.

Hart wrote music for both the WWF and WCW as well.
