In addition to the United States Postal Service, many of the support companies that offer services to businesses such as Kinkos, Boxes, etc... have lock boxes that may be rented and accessed for mail pick-up and delivery. If you decide to speak with the USPS, ask about General Delivery mail service (it is all but antiquated; however, they may be able to 'hold your mail' for up to a week...with a General Delivery account. The problem is...if your name is common enough, it could be mixed in with someone else's under this system. The address line may not be reassuring to anyone doing business with you either (remember that it is all but antiquated).

Just go to the post office that you want to receive mail from and you can rent a PO box there. Otherwise there are other mail box service centers that specialize in renting out mail boxes and other mail services.
Check the yellow pages or online.

You can go to the post office, or you can go to any one of hundreds of mailing places. They also rent mail boxes, they can also provide you with forwarding services.
