I go and buy the stuff in the jar( I never buy a sauce with meat.) I add rosemary, more oregeno, a few more other spices and a pinch of salt and sugar (the sugar is to cut down the acid taste from the tomatoes.). I then add a mixture of ground beef and ground pork italian sausages (if I have them.and I remove the skin.) that has been cooked with onions, and garlic and a pinch of nutmeg.

Good grief! i looked at some of these "recipies". Green peppers no way. The do not belong. Simple. Saute onions and garlic in good olive oil, add a pinch -of red pepper flakes, a little oregano. Then your paste, stir an d cook a minute, then your canned roma tomatoes (imported of course) some water. Turn the heat low and simmer At the end add a lot of fresh basil. This is marinara (pronounced MAH REE NAH RAH) wHILE COOKING YOU CAN ADD SOME GOOD RED WINE. And for a secret ingreedient crush a few fennel seed to give you that Italian sausage flavor.

I usually start with browning some hamburger meat, sweet and hot italian sausages, and onions. I add salt and pepper and italian seasoning as the meat is cooking. After the meat is brown, I take a jar of Prego, a few cans of tomato sauce, a can of tomato paste, and a cup or so of wine then add it all to a crock pot. Set the crock pot on low and let it simmer all day, stirring occasionally. You may need to add additional spices to get the flavor to your liking (italian seasoning, garlic salt, salt, pepper, or what you like)
