My name is easy and most of the time I am correcting people in my class for shortin it and I hate to seem a pick but I don't like nick names and how many times to I have to voice my thoughts about my name.
I am really nice and I get sick of telling people please don't call me this.. or that.

I have a friend who has a creole and 90% percent of the people who say it, mispronounced it. I ask her how she deals with it and she said she had to realized that most people just wouldn't take the time to learn it properly. It wasn't fault with her but with them. She said whenever she got the opportunity say her own name(public speaking, new friends)she would make sure to say it slowly for the new person and if the old "friend" was there, they would always "oh, I been saying wrong, I'm sorry" and from then on get it right. I hope that helps, I have a one syllable name, so I can't relate. Stay nice and correct with a smile.

Don't get upset... get even. If someone named Mary calls you by a nickname you can respond with MAR... when they give you a funny look you can tell them that's how you feel about being given a nickname you don't like.
Or you can ask them straight up "Do you not like my name?"

If they call you by a nickname do not respond. If they continue to call you by the nickname; continue to be unresponsive. When they finally get your attention and tell you that they've been calling your name, just laugh and say, "Oh, I don't go by that, my name is ____."
This method worked for me.

Make up nick names that they wont like for them

Remind them that you prefer to be called by your stated name. Correct them each and every time, without adding emotion to it. Thank them when they call you by your stated name and move on.

Well... ignore them. Dont answer to it, but I can tell you this... If you are still in high school, people know that calling you what they call you bothers you, so they are going to keep doing it to pick on you. IGNORE THEM... If you pay them any attention, they will keep doing it.

Totally ignore them after you say;"Sorry, not listening." There's no reason why you should have to answer to a nickname if you prefer your own name.

if u hear them calling u by ur nickname, ignore. and if they r smart enough to remember that u told them not to, they will say ur real name.

get an index card, write your name on it, tie it with a string and wear it around your neck. :P
