if you are bleeding downstairs then u have started ur period. u may feel pain in ur stomach like an ache. it can be really bad or u cud feel nothing at all. but jus take a couple of painkillers and put a hot water bottle on ur stomach. i dont know wot u will be using i.e towel or tampon but use something. u may want to use a towel to begin with but tampons r better because u feel more comfortable. my first period wasnt too bad but i wouldnt want it again. it felt like i was wearing a nappy. tel ur mum or someone cos that will be better cos they will understand why ur not so well or feeling bit down. u mite be irregular fr first few months so just keep something on u in case u get caught out. good luck honey.

When I first started I wasn't sure either. I noticed a small red patch in my pants.
You may be crying for no reason, get cramps, notice blood in your pants. This is all normal.
Then I'd go down to the shops and pick up some pads. Don't be embarrassed, the people at the till are serving people with them all the time. I started with pads, I think thats the best way. Its your choice though. It can be embarrassing to talk to your mum about it. But she can offer advice. I didn't go to my mum, and just kept it to myself. But when I did tell her it felt so much better.

1) bloated stomach
2) stomach cramps
3) bleeding
4) a pain in the *rse every month
5) men moaning thinking women are complaining about nothing!

Usually in the beginning it is not red blood. When I was young I thought it would be and had no idea I had started. You will usually pass a brown blood which is dried. This maybe random for awhile but soon it will turn into red blood as your cycles progress. There might also be some bloating and your pants will feel tight, cramping below your belly button and/or back pain.

I was 11, just had a big roast dinner and thought the cramp in my belly was just because I was full up. I went to the toilet and it was quite brown looking if I remember. I went up and down to the toilet about 4times to check what was happening. Eventually I called my mum upstairs and burst into tears.
I'm sure it is your period but could take months before it properly develops into a 4weekly cycle.
Hope this helped, take care.

How old are you.
Sometimes at forst youll get a dark brown discharge, this could be a sign that your periods are atarting, If it is dark red blood and you are at the right age for starting then it probably is.
Along with the pains described above. You can always see your GP and they can confirm it for you.
