really 50+ in 3 games in a row is pretty good but look at the teams he was playing. the best of the 3 teams was the wolves but the other two arent that good espeacially memphis (last place) so someone who takes 37 shots a night should get 50 or 60. and against the two bad teams he got 60 and lost one of those games and bearly won the other. if he was really that good he would be able to win a lot of games not score 50 or 60 cuz in the end it doesnt matter unless u win

First of all we are not morons, by asking this question you are making yourself a moron. Second of all, basketball back in the 60s and 70s was a completely different game: games averaged over 120 points a game and players played little defense. In addition, Wilt's numbers are misleading because at the time he was a big 7 footer playing with a bunch of 6 footers. Wake up dude, the game has changed. From your comment it seems that you don't even watch laker basketball. Have you seen the degree of difficulty of all of Kobe's shots? Who cares if someone done something better than he did, how often to do you witness a player score back to back to back 50 point games or 81 points? If you don't break the record does it always mean you are overated? Us Kobe fans act the way we do because we are Kobe fans. Give me one reason why wouldn't we? If you are not a Kobe fan, too bad, your missing out on one of the premier talents that only show up once in a decade or two, however sit down, shut up and don't be jealous that your team ( if you even watch basketball) has a talent like Kobe.

YO ... hold up one second..... first of all do you know why wilt chamberlin is not given any credit for all the records he has because he did against 5'8 white boys like you that are asking the questions right now. Wilt Chamberlin and Bill Russell were the only two tall black guys back then and all they had to is catch the ball and lay it up. Kobe Bryant is making his records by 20 foot + jump shots and against players who are his size and against wayyyyyy tougher defenses then whatever Wilt was getting from those white guys... yes he did average 50 in a season but he also averaged like 25 rebounds a game... everything he did will never be broken because there is no way a player can do that in this era of basketball. But when a player like comes anywhere close to it, IT IS TRULY AMAZING BECAUSE IF HE WAS A PLAYER BACK IN WILTS DAYS HE WOULD HAVE SCORED 200 POINTS IF HE WANTED TOO. BOTTOM LINE WILT NEVER PLAYED AGAINST ANY TYPE OF TOUGH DEFENSES UNTIL THE LATE 60'S AND EARLY 70'S, HE PLAYED AGAINST SHORT WHITE GUYS ..WHEN HE MADE MOST OF THESE RECORDS. SO DONT GET ALL PISSED WHEN PEOPLE ARE WATCHING GREATNESS OF KOBE BRYANT HAPPEN BECAUSE HE IS THAT DAMN GOOD. HE IS THE BEST OVERALL PLAYER IN THE NBA . HE IS A LEGEND AMONGST MORTALS. DONT HATE.!

some people did react to the 81 as if it were 101, true, but did any of those people even see the 100 point game? probably not... its actually watching the game that gets people excited... witnessing it with your own eyes. witnessing that spin move to the corner to get off a fadeaway 3pt tiebreaker in the last seconds of overtime in an attempt to snap a 7 game losing streak. the ability to do that, and the reputation for doing such things throughout your career is what elevates you to that level of greatness. even wilt didnt have the variety of moves that kobe has. could wilt knock down 12 consecutive 3s in a single game? probably not, but he sure could catch and flip it in from 2 feet away...and wilt didnt have to play against shaq, duncan, yao, nowitzki, ben wallace, david robinson, marion, olajuwon, and all the other great big men of the past 12 years. but to answer your question, 3 consecutive games of 50+ is a big deal when the only other players to do it were 3 of the greatest of all time. Its an even bigger deal when your total throughout the 3 games is 175... topped only by wilt, whose records will never be touched.

You have to look at the game when Wilt was playing compared to now. For one Wilt was enormous in height compared to the avg size NBAer at that time. All he had to do was catch the ball and shoot a hook shot or something it wasn't even fair. Also the games back then were very high scoring and most teams avg'd well over 100 pts a game where now maybe 5 teams avg that... Kobe is not over rated in the least bit the amount of skill it takes to do that is amazing and I can't stand Kobe. Look at his perfomances though.. All 3 games I believe he shot over 50% from the field which is very good, so it wasn't something forced but right now he is just in a zone.

i find it interesting that every time Kobe does something that deserves to be recognized you demean. He has scored over 50 and 60 as many times as Michael Jordan. No one is ever close to Wilt in terms of scoring average.
When Kobe scored 81- it was the 2nd most points scored in one night, that's something that deserves attention- it'd be like if someone rushed for 300 yards or threw 8 touchdowns in a game. It's a rare thing that happens maybe every 25-30 years, and Kobe's scoring spree is scary- because he has the potential to do it every night.
It's obviously you hate Kobe- and everyone has their reasons (there are a lot of haters out there) but please don't demean his accomplishments. If Jordan had 4 straight 50 point games- you'd be saying how he's greater than Kobe. He is, but i hope you get my point.
Respect the game bro!

No, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Wilt is the guy who is overrated. Wilt basically was dominant and scored as much as he did because the era he was in didn't have as much tall and big men as himself. Everyone else in the league was under 7 feet, allowing him to dominate with ease. All Wilt did was stand over them and drop the ball in.
To some effect there was no 3pt line in Wilt's time but not like he can shoot it in anyway. Kobe's the real *****!

I also think that kobe is overrated, but his scoring is still an impressive feat. Basketball is alot different now than it was in Wilt's day. Defenses are much tougher, faster, and skilled. Although I think other guys today can do what kobe did, like Gilbert Arenas but they decide to pass more and find an open shot for other guys.

i see where youre coming from, but youhave to understand that when Wilt played there was no shot clock (i dont think), no three seconds in the key, no goaltending, and he was a monster compared to eveyone else, the only person who can guard him was bill russel and he was only 6'8 wilt was 7ft something and after a certain point they banned the slam dunk because it was too easy for wilt to score,so when kobe does something like it it is kind of a big deal but for wilt to do it almost ever game is still impressive

How many other guys in the league right now, not 30 years ago, but right now, that have even scored more than 50 points in one game this season. 3 games in a row with 50 plus points is amazing in the modern game of basketball.
