At Starrcade in 1999, he was kicked in the head by Goldbreg on an errant round house kick. Goldberg was too close and the kick nailed him on the side of the head. It caused a concussion. Brett continued to appear on WCW in a non-wrestling role for the next month, hoping that the symptoms would go away. The week before their January PPV, Bret Hart along with Jeff Jarrett were both diagnosed with post-concussion trauma and not cleared to wrestle. Bret stated that he held Goldberg and Vince Russo to blame.
About 2-3 years later, Bret was out riding his bike in Canada when he fell off and hit his head on the street. He then had a mild stroke on that side. He has regained most of his motor skills from that accident, but he will never be able to wrestle again.

Bret Irish whipped Goldberg to the ropes, and Goldberg gave him a superkick in return. He nailed it, and ended up ending Bret Hart's career because of it. It happened in '99 on a WCW ppv. It led to him getting continuous concussions, and he had to retire because of it.

In a WWE magazine in late '05 he said Goldberg kicked him in the head (or neck, dont remember exactly). The interviwer for the magazine asked if he'd return and he said something to the effect of he'll never tie his boots again. So yeah, Goldberg ended his career (God bless him ending the career of that semi-talented self-righeous crybaby). Even if he could wrestle, he said he'd never go to another WWE event besides Hall of Fame. But the question you should ask: Who really cares?

WWF: just look at 'Montreal Screwjob' when he screwed by Vince Mcmahon , NOT Shawn Michaels no matter what you strange Canadians believe!! Even if the 2 really hated each other..

He was wrestling some guy and their knee when in his "hart" and he had to retire.
