Do you know anyone court ordered into a brainwashing class?
There is one in my community called "Solutions", it is court ordered, if you get into a domestic dispute. It reaches things like children dont need a father, transexuality is not a choice but losing your temper is, your not allowed to call your wife your wife, you have to refer to her with various approved forms of identification, they teach a viewpoint that you are not allowed to disagree with, and if you do, it's off to jail for you. Isthis in all cities? It is best described under the definition of Orwellian

This falls into the "any program is a good program" category. It's a commonly-used governmental tactic to make it look like something's being done to address a perceived problem (whether real or imaginary). In the private sector, this activity is called "looking busy".

I had to go through an expensive group "counseling" program after a DUI arrest. It was a total crock as the whole program was a bunch of crap, but it was better than getting raped in prison so I stuck with it. End result? A waste of time and money.

There has been some flap about courts ordering alcohol and drug offenders to attend AA/NA meetings. AA and NA meetings are about as successful in helping someone quit using as no meetings at all (roughly 20%). Nonetheless, courts are ordering people to attend them because doing something that doesn't work is better than doing nothing at all, regardless if the results are the same.

AA/NA also require their attendees to surrender to a "higher power". By making meeting attendance mandatory the courts are in effect co-mingling church and state.
