My ideal candidate has no vested interest in either political party. Their interest is purely in the advancement of the United States of America, its people, its ideals, and its allies.
Corruption comes when one makes one too many concessions, and there is no longer any of the self left to give its perspective. We can no longer abide by the Lobbyists. They are hurting our government, and have bought the votes of our parties. No more PAC 's. No more Lobbies. Make all campaign monies come strictly from the People. Eliminate Hard and Soft monies. If you want honesty, you MUST eliminate greed. I don't care if you are Liberal, Moderate, or Conservative. If you defend the lobbies, you are an enemy of We the People! You defend the capability of our officials being pulled away from our voice.
Now, to paraphrase a great thinker of our day, "of course, I could be wrong."

I'm glad that your question starts with "what" instead of "who," because I don't have anybody in particular that I'm rooting for, I am searching for an idea only.
My ideal candidate would talk a great deal about the need to appoint better people to the Supreme Court, ....... similar to the way Prof. Alan Dershowitz talks about in the last few pages of his book, "Supreme Injustice: How the High Court Hijacked Election 2000." In addition to addressing that, my ideal candidate would also be an advocate for a constituional amendment which would repeal and replace the 14th amendment.

Great question! Someone who will restore the US Constitution. He is loyal to one one thing and that's US citizens. He has been blacklisted so the media rarely (if any) mentions his name! This has been his first and only MSM interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Bze5xpW1v4
Ron follows the same ideology as you and I do. He is not subject to the corruption in DC. This man has consistenly voted in the interest of the American people. He believes only in what the US Constitution. America has been high-jacked by the large multinational corporations. Both the 'democrats' and 'republicans' are at the mercy of the Federal Reserve and Corporations. Ron is the only one that WILL do something about the problems America faces. Our liberties are gone. In fact, we are getting a national ID card (Real ID Act - May 2005). Who would of thought that it was in the best interest on America to track American citizens using RFID National ID Cards? Ron Paul is the ONLY one who has voted with us in mind.
Don't let the words 'democrat' and 'republican' fool you. Vote the US Constition. Vote liberty, Vote FREEDOM!
Check out some videos that I have. Here is a good one. Rn Paul is not afraid of the ILLEGAL Federal Reserve bank. It has brought the vaue of the US dollar down to 4 cents since 1913. The media will not tell you this, since they are controlled by the corporations (Disney, GE, etc.)
According to the Grace Commission "100% of our tax dollars go to pay off this debt to the Federal Reserve". By the way, the Federal Reserve is no more Federal than Federal Express. It is a PRIVATE company ;)

There is a great resource of videos. Please take the time to understand who Ron Paul is, the you can make an educated decision! Visit here for the videos: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=VoteRonPaul08
Thank you so much for your post!

My ideal candidate is someone who has the real interests of all Americans in his or her heart. I don't want someone easily swayed by the politicos in other countries. I don't care what the Mexican president thinks or what the Venezualian president thinks or even what the British prime minister thinks. They can all keep their noses out of our business.
I want someone who is going to be strong on illegal aliens. Get them out of here! Why let them skip over all the legal aliens who have waited for years to get here and they followed all the rules! These illegal aliens are called illegal because they are breaking the law. I don't care why they are here. And if they have children while they are here illegally the child(ren) should NOT be American citizens. We are the only Western country that stills uses that archaic practice. Enough already!

I think Hillary will shoot herself in the foot. I'm a democrat, but i don't want her to win. I think Edwards will pull ahead by next year, and so will Obama, and I think that running together, with obama as the VP, they could not lose, even agaist Giuliani, who is not loved by enough conservatives, and is certainly not loved by many liberals outside New york City.
If Edwards and Obama run together, we will have the white house for the next 16 years.

I would like to add one more thing people put way to much emphasis on global warming anyway. They talk without hearing both sides. The only thing they hear is Global warming is for real. Look through history earth always has had cold periods and warm periods so until a whole country floods or something you all will have to better than that.
