CAN you? Yes. Is it legal? Well, that would depend on the cable company but it usually is fine.

The short answer here is that you just need to get a TV tuner card for your PC and you can hook up the same analog cable feed that goes to your existing television (split it, etc).

For digital cable feeds, many cable companies include an analog feed on the same wires; you can install a tap or splitter (5-10 bucks tops at Rat Shack) to test it out. If you want to watch the digital cable feed, the process is basically the same but your TV card will have to support the same kind of video/audio inputs as your TV and you'll still use your digital cable converter box as the tuner.

Another solution is to get something like the Slingbox and/or a wireless video extender. The Slingbox (info available at www.slingmedia.com and sold at electronic stores for about $200) is a simple device that allows you to send video to your PC from your television. Unlike wireless video extenders though, this one goes MUCH further in functionality. It's well worth the time to look into.

HTH...!

you'll need a tv tuner/capture card. You should be able to hook it up to your cable box and use it to watch tv on your computer.

If you really wanted to get into it try MythTV

Well you'd have to buy a TV input card and plug your cable/satellite into it.
