People are all right. Basically there is no right or wrong answer. I personally love the speed of the game. It brings out the intensity but for some reason, I like baseball too, though it's the opposite of hockey in terms of speed. Maybe because I grew up in a baseball environment. Oh well, hockey is a good sport in general. For men, check out BOXING!!!

The fact that you lose the puck and INSTANTLY the objective for your team changes from offense to defense.
This transition is like no other sport.
Baseball and football you may have to wait an interminable time before you go from offense to defense. Basketball players can't lose the Ball too easily, they have to make a pretty big mistake.
In these other sports, you can survive with one dimensional players much better than you can in Hockey too.
The speed part is great too. In baseball the pitcher has to throw the ball, the batter has to hit the ball, the ball might or might not be fair, then they have to field it...you get the idea. (Worse yet how many times is the game on the line, 3-2 count on the batter, and he fouls off the next 10 pitches?)
Hockey -- someone gets a breakaway and INSTANTLY the result is in --- big save or Goal.

The speed and spontaneity of the game.Unlike other sports, Hockey progresses on the fly!!! A quick poke check, clean hit, quick wrist shot, can totally change the game instantly. Also, strategy is developed as the game moves back and forth. Not in the locker room or on the bench before hand.

when playing your self the best thing is no doubt scoring that goal the one that makes the game change it is the best feeling ever to scroe a goal that wins a game that means something like in a tourny or in a legue game.
While watching the game the best part now is to see all of the great players and all of their fancy moves and deyks. Just watching them skate through three players is amazing. Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Pavel Datsyuk are amoung the best to watch in the game and being in the same rink as them is an honor and just watching them change the game is probably the best thing about the great game of Hockey!!!

I dont know about you, but I love hockey because it gets me going, out of all the sports I play, I love hockey the best. I dont know what there is about it, though. Everytime I step out onto that ice, it seems like nothing can come between me and the ice. I like it also because it is the one sport that is really good for you, like running in track or someting, i used to have foot problems, so i went to the doctor or whatever and the doctor told me that running and stuff is really bad for your feet and your legs and stuff and hockey is not like that because you glide. Hockey is just plain over fun! That is the best thing about hockey.

The only major sport it conflicts with is basketball. In fact, following hockey allows me to completely forget the NBA is going on ....... by the way, NBA and NHL? No comparison: From the effort put forth during games to the way players conduct themselves in front of the microphone and off the ice(court). I just don't get why on a national (US) level, it loses out in tv ratings and talk radio coverage, etc......

The absolute best thing about hockey is they don't play it year round, at least not here.
And it prepares dentists everywhere it is played for jaw rebuilding.
And it gets would be serial killers off the streets.

The speed and continuous action. How things can change in an instant. The LACK of anguishing over strategies like other sports. Keep it moving!
