My husband is 20 years younger than I am. He was 23 when we met, legal in all 50 states.
We're happy together (25 & 45 this year)
We get a lot of strange looks, and I get more than a few very nasty comments, why?
When the shoe is on the other foot, everyone thinks it's fine.
I think he is a wonderful man, and he makes me more than happy, he completes me.
He says I am the coolest person he has ever known.
We enjoy each other, enormously.
So why must I constantly defend myself?

I should say, why do others think it's wrong? we don't, and I won his parents over rather easily (his Mom is 2 years older than me)
Yeah, it's different, but life is short...

My husband is younger than I am.....I can see where you are coming from if the shoe was on the other foot and he were the older of the two of you there would be no issue and he would more than likely receive a pat on the back from his buddies.
If you get strange looks and nasty comments it is because the people that are looking and commenting have never known a love like yours and it confuses them. Actually I feel sorry for them because they don't have anything better to do than talk about you.
You sound like a very lucky woman and more power to you for your love eventually I promise the looks and comments will stop until then hold your head high and be proud that you have such a wonderful relationship and aren't afraid to be true to your feelings.
I wish you the best of luck.

If you both are happy, that's all that matters. Don't let others make you think that your love is wrong. Even though a lot of the times it is men with younger women, there is nothing wrong with an older woman being with a younger man as long as all parties are of legal age. Stop letting people bug you!

My husband is 34 I'm 50. The age difference really bothered me at first. He's always been perfectly fine with it. He is more mature than any of the men my age. What can I say other than LOVE doesn't go by a calendar. After 2 failed marriages(both my age), it's so wonderful to finally know what love feels like.

I don't think most people think the same age difference in the opposite direction is perfectly fine. Those guys get lots of comments too. My suggestion is to quit trying to defend yourself. Let people think what they want. If the 2 of you are happy together, let everyone else pound sand.

I see nothing wrong with marrying older or younger than your age. The advantage to an older woman marrying a younger man is the sex thing, obviously. As long as you are happy and in love who cares? They're probably all just jealous!!!

Stop defending yourself. If you and your husband are cool with it, that's all that matters. If you continue to bother with what other people say and do regarding this, it will become an issue between the two of you. Don't ruin what you have because of others jealousy and envy.

NOTHING... I am so glad to hear that it is working out for the two of you. My boyfriend is 13 years younger than me and we are a perfect match and one day hope to be married, so it is great to know that it does work out for others too. You are not alone in getting the "strange looks" but I figure it aint their life so flip off.

Contratulations!.. you were very lucky..
maybe the people is envious.. (that`s the word?).. cause most of the people accept normal relationships. I mean.. the same age, or average, but love doesn`t have age.. I think that if you enjoy each other as your are doing right now.. go on! don`t let the world stop you!

ur absolutely right about it being acceptable when it's the vice versa!! i thought people would be more accepting of it now but guess not. people are just going to continue judging u guys for it and the only thing i would do is french kiss him in front of the critics!! rent the movie "how stella got her groove back" with angela bassett and you'll feel better about yourself.
