well...i'll put it this way your gf breaks up with you to go out with another guy and she doesnt really want you back any time soon but at the same time she wants to try and tell you that you cant date another girl

It means someone is very selfish, example:
Your parents let you go that "popular" party this weekend, but you also want them to extend your curfew. That's having your cake (the party, which normally your parents would not have approved of) AND eating it too (also wanting your curfew extended)...
It's when you get/receive/or are allowed to do something that normally would not have been right or approved of and then wanting extra on top.
It's like when people say "don't puch your luck (or it)"
You already got what you wanted to be selfish and want even more...

basically, if you think about it, how can you have something...and still eat it, cause once you eat it, its gone, and you no longer have it (obviously). In the assumed context of a relationship, perhaps she wants the security of a boyfriend without the trouble of having to be faithful just to you.
