In the first Harry Potter book, Hagrid said that there wasn't a witch or wizard that went bad that wasn't in Slytherin. Seeing as Peter Pettigrew turned out to be a deatheater, that should mean that he was in Slytherin, but why would James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin be friends with Peter Pettigrew if he was in Slytherin? After all, there has always been enmity between both houses.

He was definitely from Gryffindor. Remember the sorting hat wanted to put Harry in Slytherin. so the sorting hat isn't perfect. Peter pettigrew just wanted to belong and had a weak mind that was easily corrupted by Voldermot. He hid out as a rat for 12 years not exactly slytherin material!

When Hagrid said that he still believed that Pettigrew was a good wizard who was killed by Black. Of course that leaves the question of why Black was not in Slytherin because the same statement should then apply to him.

just because peter pettigrew turned evil doesn't mean that he was in slytherin. he was in gryffindor that's why he could be friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin.

wasn't Ron that said that, I need to re look it over but I took it that a lot of witch and Wizards went bad from Slytherin not only form Slytherin. Peter Pettigrew is a Griffindor.

he is definately in gryffindorbecause he was friends with james, sirius, and remus aka the mauradars. he was or started out as a good guy too exibiting gryffindor like qualities but after a few bad choices he ended up the way that he is in the books now. plus iin book 3 (prisoner of azkaban) menerva mcgonnagal said that he was always following the guys (sirius, james and remus) around. even though he is a main deatheater in serving voldemort means nothing to this!

Just because Pettigrew became a death eater doesn't mean he was in Slytherin. He could have been in Griffyndor, but went bad. Besides it doesn't say in any book he became a death eater. He was probably promised things to spy and inform Voldemort, but was really just a pawn.
