I'm white but nobody in my family ever owned black slaves. My grandmother and grandfather came to America in 1944 to flee the Holocaust because of what the Natzi's were doing to anyone who opposed the war.But just because I'm white I have to suffer the stigma of being a descendant of slave owners.I don't even think they care if you are or not anymore.I'ts just another mindless reason to hate and justify it.They say the civil war was about freeing the slaves, even teach it in the Schools. But the truth of the matter is the Government was losing the war and so to win they told the slaves they would be freed if they joined the war and fought. But this is the part that isn't taught. The slaves were used as human shields, they were put on the front line so the enemy would fire upon them killing them and after emptying their ammo they would need to reload. While reloading the soldiers fighting for the Government would charge and kill the soldiers who couldn't shoot back because they already emptied all of their ammunition onto the blacks! Not very many blacks survived. But that's basically how the civil war was won.But to answer your question people want the black community to always have a victem like mentality.People who percieve themselves as victems are more easily controlled and manupulated.Take the African American title. Why are they called that and better yet why are they now calling themselves that? The black people here are American, period. They weren't born in Africa. That's like me saying I'm German American and not associating myself with an American heritage. What also gets me is when asked for my racial background it no longer says 'white-caucasion' instead it now says 'white-not hispanic'So are we slowly losing our own identity while it is being merged with another?White people I know realize the difference between them and hispanics so why is it in our faces all the time to point out the differences?I think certain people might want a racial war here in America and if they can keep Americans divided they will succeed in what they want.It seems everybody not just blacks but every one of us are being used as pawns. And because of the victem mindset we can't even discuss it because anything we say can be percieved as racism instead of good common sense.

It's side of a have got to believe persecuted, it amost turns into an excuse for failure or unacceptable behaviour. Many black individuals reside for at present and are way more fascinated with a affluent intriguing long term than harking again a few centuries, nevertheless a few individuals (black or white) will continuously seem again alternatively than ahead. I agree somewhat. Most people today in the USA either did not know, or have forgotten that most all white Europeans who came to this country were slaves, servants, and or indentured servants. The vast majority of Europeans were slaves back home also. They belonged to the land they lived on. Every time the land changed ownership, they got a new master. This whole slavery idea is just a Hollywood show gone wild.

It's probably because slavery was one of the most disgraceful episodes in United States History, very much like the worldwide disgrace of the Holocaust. Man's inhumanity to man, no matter who commits the inhumanity, is something we have to learn to overcome. The trouble is, we never do, it seems. Look at the all the fighting that is going on in the world today, especially those caused by religions that profess peace and love. So until we can learn from the mistakes of the past, there will no doubt be more stories made about those mistakes so that we can hopefully and finally learn not to commit such acts again.

to educate the young about slavery and how destructive it can be. However young people really dont understand the horrors of slavery because they dont experience it or witness it in person.

Slavery doesnt mean anything to you because you havent experienced anything like it. but i bet if you were forced to do manual labor all day with little food it would to you.

Slavery is a serious thing and slavery probaly still exists today. remeber slavery is also done in warfare. When people capture enemies they become prisoghners of war and
are usually forced to live like a slave alot in many ways.

but i do agree with you that black people shouldnt be feeling so special because of there slavery. many other societies have been enslaved. people need to understand that no one is special for having ancestors enslaved because alot of societies were enslaved already. also some societies where part of other societies at one time or another. I agree with you on that.

No one cares about Bristol City Council, dolt. But I do care about the impoverishing of Black people in America through slavery and the following years of goverment sanctioned racism that explains most of the problems Black America has today. The issue isn't really over, my friend.

Yeah, I mean, why think about history at all? Certainly there's no benefit to be had by actually examining our cultural history! I mean while we're at it, hell, let's just stop thinking about and discussing history at all. Let's all stop being "fgs," mmkay? Forget that it might be relevant to today's society where descendants of slaves suffer disproportionately more than, say, white people. Forget that RACISM still exists and is still a problem - surely slavery had nothing to do with that. Yeah, thanks for clearing that up, JimBob. 'ppreciate it.
