Or is it true that Americans can't get enough of the stuff?

I can only hope that reality TV will go away soon, but think about it. Humans LOVE drama. We can't get enough of it. We watch other people's problems to escape our own. And most people feel so badly about themselves that they want others to fail. Reality TV is full of people making fools of themselves...it's like a circus. The TV companies are the ringleaders.

And I know for a fact that reality shows are not "unscripted". I attended the "Grease: You're the One That I Want" auditions in LA and everything that is done in front of the camera is prompted by the cameraman. Reality TV is just about as far away from reality as a person can get.

I personally would not mind having the family sitcom back. There's SO much less drama

If they keep making horrible quality shows, which wastes our time and money, then yes, I believe they will die out.

Some are worth watching, others, not so much.

Family sitcoms didn't totally die out, but they definitely aren't as funny anymore.
It's like the writers all left to go think of ideas for reality shows, and got replaced by monkeys, or something...

I really hope so! I Think that pathetic reality shows like ¨Who wants to be a Super Heroe?¨ or ¨The House of Carters¨ just show that the good production ideas are running out.. and it's just the beggining of the end of these fever.

I guess we will always have some shadows like some classics like ¨American Idol¨, or some other extremely popular shows.

I hope it dies quick! I don't like reality TV. I don't believe most of it and it appears some situations are set up just to get a reaction from the people on the show. I really don't like punked or the other one that scares people or celebrities. It's soooo stupid and rude. Sometimes it is kinda funny, but I'd rather watch stars talking with their friends, or shopping, or getting their hair done. Even a star cooking their favorite meal, even if it is just slim fast and a protein bar. I'd really enjoy watching celebrities interacting with their pets.

If someone can explain to me what is 'real' about having a TV crew following your every waking moment, whether you be on a desert island, a song competition, or a make-over show, I'd love to know just what 'reality TV' actually means.
From what I've seen, it's the most fabricated and false scenarios imaginable.
It's insulting to the viewers that this pulp is being broadcast as 'entertainment'.

eventually it will. just like the western shows from the 1950's, nighttime soap opera shows from the 70's and 80's, and talk shows from the 80's and 90's. people get tired of seeing the same thing all the time. the big thing now besides the reality shows are the crime scene shows, i am tired of them. another type of show that won't stay around too long are shows like lost, heroes, and Jericho. i like these shows but they just can't last too long without coming to some kind of final conclusion. i just hope they don't disappear without an ending like invasion and surface

Only when the companies find some more creative writers which start producing good shows and people start tuning into them and start turning off the reality shows. Right now, it's about all that is on.

Well, I've personally had more than enough reality. I like to watch TV as an escape.

Eventually Americans will get tired of it when they reliaze its not true reality TV. Using hidden cameras without them knowing is true reality TV but it is invasion of privacy.

money. With "fact shows" manufacturers do no longer might desire to pay actor or writers or maybe directors. they only turn on the cameras and enable it take place then edit out the boring areas and leave all of the action. And as long as human beings are prepared to track into the nonsense they are going to save doing it.
