Need to know which movie! There's tons of film adaptations of Hamlet, but chances are you watched the Laurence Olivier, Mel Gibson, or Kenneth Branagh versions.

Kenneth Branaugh's version used the complete play, with no lines cut out. However, he inserted visual scenes not in the play. There were flashes of Ophelia in the nude (very nice, but misleading), which hinted (falsely imho) that Hamlet had consummated his relationship with her. There were visuals at the end of Fortinbras' army attacking Elsinore - that didn't happen in the play. I don't remember any other differences. You'll just have to watch the 4-hour movie. It's worth watching.

There are probably many different movie versions of Hamlet. Which one?

None really as long as they used the original script. Acting has always been open for interpertation whether it's on a stage or screen.
