remember the days of Home Improvement, Family Matters, Step by Step, Full House, etc. etc.? I don't see anything on TV even remotely similar...Have demographics changed that drastically over such a short period of time?

I know what you mean. I miss that kind of programming too. They do not make family sitcom much any more. Everything is most reality or people that are living by themselves and single. I liked watching some of them myself, like family ties and Mama's family. You can still see Mama's family. Its on at 8pm Evey night on ion television. Growing pains is still on as well.

I think so, it's probably the only type of show that has continued since the beginning. Right now reality shows and game shows are cheaper, but when the trend wears off they will go back to more comedies and dramas to get the viewers back. TV tends to copy whats popular at the moment once there's a new hit comedy they will try to copy it.

i hope so. they need some better writers. the only really funny show on now is Ugly Betty, the rest of the sitcoms are just now funny at all. and i don't think it can be classified as a family sitcom, some of the stuff in it is not for children.

Try watching "The War at Home", it's pretty funny. Also, "My Wife & Kids" (re-runs now) was funny as well. I know these two do not compare to the good old programing though.
