I used to cut my arm and recently my friend has been doing it. she thinks shes ulgy and fat and hasn't been eating lunch. going to talk to an adult is out of the question but should i talk to her about it, or will that just end in an argument?

I don't know. I cut, but I shouldn't and I think I'm going to stop. I've only been doing it for about it week and if I get caught, I'm screwed. I'd say to talk to her. People that don't eat sometimes want people to notice them and care for them. I know because I used to do it. I just figured that I could lose weight while being cared for, but it's much more complicated than I could explain. You have two options. Ignore it and she will eventually stop because it doesn't work quickly enough and people are ignoring it, or help her. Either works. Why don't you talk to her? I think you should. Cutting is addicting and in the end, I think it gets you no where.

Try to talk to your friend. Remember what helped you stop cutting yourself and share that with your friend.

But remember, anytime you see a friend seriously hurting themself or talking about committing suicide, ALWAYS tell an adult you trust. It's ok and you'll be doing the friend a favor in the end. Not all adults are judgmental of young people and I know someone (a teacher, coach, band director, friend's mom, etc.) would help you if you needed it.

Talk to her, let her know you're there for her. To listen or whatever she needs. Tell her your story. and how you over came cutting.

Going to an adult is NOT out of the question. She's hurting yourself. If it was my sister, cousin, friend, daughter, I would be upset if someone did not TELL and try to get her help.

You could always right a letter to her parents or a teacher, and not SIGN it. so no one will know you told, but you helped.
