We have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE. 3800 series II engine, 6 cylinders, no supercharger, with air conditioning and have been having an ongoing problem for quite some time now. The car starts fine and runs for a while and then it'll stall and we're left waiting 15-20 mins, sometime longer before we can start it again. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold, and doesn't seem to coincide with the weather. We've taken it to 2 different mechanics and had these things fixed already, but the problem persists!: Fuel Pressure regulator, Starter, water pump and vacuum linkage. If anyone has an idea as to what might be causing this I'd appreciate your advice. We've already had over 1000 dollars in repairs in 2 months and certainly can not afford a new vehicle.

so far what has been replaced would not cause the problem you are describing.
your problem is either fuel or ignition.
things to check:
when car stalls check for spark. check for fuel.
to check for spark remove a spark plug wire and connect to an old spark plug. turn engine over and look for a spark. if you see spark check for fuel. if you don't see a spark this is an ignition system problem and can be cause by many things:
coil, ignition module, sensors, computer, spark plug wires
to check fuel requires a fuel pressure gauge be connected to the fuel system.
most common cause of problem you are describing would be fuel filter, there is not way to check a fuel filter just replace it.
the next would be fuel pump have it pressure and flow tested.
I would also recommend finding a new mechanic check with better business bureau before going to another one.
as I stated eariler the work that has been done would not cause you problem you need a mechanic not a parts changer!!

i did an intake gasket on that engine recently.
problem was similar, but it's hard to tell without more info. Stay away from the guys who did a starter and water pump (unless your car was overheating)

you didn't mention replacing the fuel filter... that's the first thing i'd have replaced.
