Absolutely, even if the service is sub-par. I always leave at least 15%. If the service is good 20-25% and 25% or more if the service is excellent.

Most waiters, waitresses are paid a salary that counts tips as part of their income. Check the menu as some restaurants already include the gratuity as part of the bill. If not, then yes you should tip after your meal. The standard is 15% minimum if service was bad to just okay. If you got excellent service then you should tip at least 20%. Many times a $1.00 tip for a cup of coffee means that the next time you come in, you will be remembered and treated accordingly.

I tip 15% because is customary here in the US, but I think is just too much. Some people tip 20% and I find that absurd. Tipping should be voluntary and depending on the service. I had horrible experiences that didn't deserve a penny, and they had the nerve to come after me for the tip. Is absurd. I really dislike the argument about why tipping (less than minimum wage, etc etc etc...it is NOT my problem). In my country, either they include the tip in the value of the meal, or we just leave what the waiter/waitress deserves. In general, 10%.

We always leave a tip after a meal in a restaurant. It shows that we appreciate the meal and service. I usually leave about $5, depending on the service, and how the food tasted.

I always tip if the service is good. Usually 15 to 20 percent. But I base my tipping on the service, not the amount or quality of the food. Waitresses/waiters have no control over those things. Neither do I base my tip on how fast the food is delivered cause the kitchen controls that. I base mine on friendliness, appearance (cleanliness) and the attention I get. Lots of people do not know that many in the service end of eating establishments don't even get minimum wage. They get a small fraction of minimum and are expected to make up the rest in tips, Ryan's restaurant here in my city, for instance, pays only $1.05 per hour. The rest comes from tips, and yes it is legal. If I'm treated well, I tip well. If I'm not treated well, I tip anyhow, usually one cent. That way I don't even have to complain to the manager. My message comes across loud and clear. The next time I visit the establishment, I get much better treatment. It never fails.

I can't imagine a waiter who deserves to be stiffed. remember waiters work for way below minimum wage and are counting on that tip to make up the difference.
How good or bad the food is or how long it takes should have nothing to do with the tip. The server has no control over that. That is controlled by the cooks who make more than minimum wage.
The tip should begin at 20% of the total bill. Is the server friendly. Did he/she attend to your "service" needs. Did they return to check on you often. Where you left wanting in the area of "service?
If you felt your SERVICE was good leave 20% or more and tell the manager how great it was. deduct appropriately only if SERVICE was poor, but never less than 10%.
If food was slow or not good, that was the cook. tell the manager the server was good but the food was not.

Yes, I tip 20% at a nice restaurant(reservatons only), 15% at all others. If the service is poor then I tip 10%.

Yes...even if the service isn't that great, I try to always give the server the benefit of the doubt..i.e, he/she may be having a bad day. Where I live, servers make minimum wage, which, in most places, is not the case. Some servers make as little as 2.00/ an hour or so, and receiving tips is how they pay the bills.
To tip a server 1 cent is very insulting and i hope you don't actually do that, EVER.

I always tip after every meal. Everyone starts at 100% and regarding upon the service and pleasantness of the person, the tip goes up or down. Sometimes, I do not give the correct percentage because of this. Peopel get what they deserve. Treat me nice and I will treat you nice.

Typically for average service tips are 15%. Poor service doesn't require as much. Excellent service I give 20%. The percentage is based on the total price before tax. The important thing to remember, a lot of servers rely on tips to make up half their minimum wage (for example, before tips, they will only get 3.55/hr). If you go to Asia and Europe, and you journey off the beaten path, they don't tip...and some even consider it rude to tip.

Always! Really good service warrants a good tip. Bad food has nothing to do with the service you receive - your waiter didn't make it. I give 15% at lunch and between 15 & 20 at dinner. Sometimes I base it on how many trips they have to make to the table. Some places, particularly at lunch, you get your bev, food, and they really don't have to do much after that so I make a judgment call based on that.
