and guys usually have short hair. and who decided that pink was for girls and blue was for guys? how can anybody know what colour they really like if their being told who they should be from the minute their born. if you think of it that way it's kinda amazing that people somehow can enter into their own true self and find out who they are.

I wish I knew where all of this started. I think I might have to smack them, lol. I love dark dark colors, have since I was a small child. My hair was usually always short, until I hit High School, I let it grow. I let it grow because everyone else had long hair, and I was self conscious about my face, the frame of my face...and they say longer hair looks better on someone with a chubby face. It's society, of course, it shapes everything. I can be a slave to it at times too. My hair has been every imagineable color and length, I like experimenting. This is my way out, my crack in the door to escape that realm. I'm a different person every day, and I like it that way. Sorry for straying, I liked your question and I just wanted to keep going haha.

actually if you look back in history, it used to be common to use PINK for boys and Yellow for girls, it has only been recently changed (thanx to Americans) in the 20th century.
And humans will always be told "this is right, this is wrong", and we've always been able to determine for ourselves what is and isn't. As for the long hair, since biblical times, long locks were a sign of femininity for either sex ,men were not allowed to be feminine back then, (although the poor men didn't cut much, "society" was different for them, even back then), men generally kept shorter hair then, and afterwards. Look at all the 1960's-2000 rock stars, Ted Nugent, Bob Segar, even the beatles were singled out for their hair being too long in the 60's,also Ronnie Van Zant from Lynyrd Skynyrd and so many more, who desputed society and did their own thing, and all are legends in their own right.

We all just need to form opinions/assesments, etc for ourselves and society should not have anything to do w/ that.
I think it takes an insecure individual to not be able to "enter into their own true self" despite society/media/traditions.

Good question. I don't know, i never really thought of it...i guess i just assumed it was right. One thing people are alot more open with these days is boys liking pink and other so called "girly" colors. Boys are also kinda getting long hair, not tons, but a few. I think the older people are the ones not okay with this because they were raised in a different time...and we are used to boys wearing girls pants, dying their hair, straightening their hair, etc. You know what i mean? Boys are slowly becoming more girly, but again...that is just kinda what people are trying to tell them to do. I can't think of like...ANYONE they play on mtv or fuse (besides rappers) that don't wear girl pants and take great pride in their conditioned hair. It's just society i guess, eh?

I don't think pink imprinted very well on me! I like blue! and Yellow! and Green! those are my favorites. Hair I just take a cue from nature! Who doesn't oooh and ahhh at a beautiful horses mane! Or- the beautiful trailing, leaf filled branches of the willow! It's enchanting! Men generally are engaged in activities where hair is more of a hardship when kept long.

i've got had long hair to my butt, short bobbed hair, and that i as quickly as shaved my head. I might desire to declare that I enjoyed having the shaved head the final whether it weirded different's out. For now, I purely shop it short. long hair replaced into remarkable yet took a large style of time and dedication to look after. i might quite be doing different issues. On men, I easily tend to decide for short hair yet there are some men that look weird and wonderful with short hair. It relies upon on the face shape and shape.

There is some evidence that women's hair grows and has a longer growth cycle than men's. Also, the vigour of hair is a reflection of good health. As a result, long hair would become associates with femininity and good health - ideal attributes for a mate! Add in the tendency for society to exaggerate these inicators of femininity and it is easy to see why it became standard for girls and women to have longer hair.

Interesting question. I think the colors became associated with the gender perhaps because of "color psychology"..what colors evoke in us....and matching those qualities to being "feminine" and "masculine".... liek pink for innocence and blue for something like seriousness/business... the culture does play a huge role ofcourse in our relating one to the other....that is how we learn. Regarding hair....that's a really interesting question to think about, why long hair is associated with being more feminine. Is it a logical thing, or is there a deeper association. Perhaps, in the olden days, men went out to hunt and work, and kept their hair short because it is "practical"...whereas women were associated with beauty, and hair was a symbol of their femininity...

I think the long hair goes back to the bible. it is a glory for women to have long hair but a shame for men.

I Cor. 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given her for a covering

Cor.11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

now I don't have a clue why blue is for boys and pink is for girls and yellow if unknown.

The same way YOU can be told what religion to believe in, whats right from wrong, what laws to abide by, etc. Its the way it is, unless you want to fight the powers that be, and search for knowledge of self. You're not ready for that though. Best regards.
