Okay, I have a major alcohol problem. Around 11 last night, I called my friend to pick me up from the club. I was too drunk to drive. Anyway, he said we were going to Las Vegas and to get comfortable. I crashed in the backseat. Him and our other friend, Ryan, were in the front. I woke up just after 2 and realized we were parked somewhere. The guys weren’t in the car. I looked around and didn’t recognize where I was. I was still drunk, stumbled out of the car, and walked about 100 feet to where an old building was (I could see a light inside). Within a couple minutes I realized my friends were robbing this building. I started to freak on them, yelling about what they could be doing. Next thing you know the cops arrive. My friend was back in the car by this time, so he couldn’t run, but Ryan and I took off. I tripped, bruised my leg, and got a slight cut on my head while being arrested. I have never been in trouble and am not sure what got into my friends.

My words were slurred enough that the cops didn’t try to question me for too long - also, I refused to talk. Even this morning when in court and upon being woke up, I still wouldn’t talk. What can I do? I’m totally screwed(?) and don’t know what’s going on. Why were they being so dumb!? : (

I'm on yahoo answers right now, but I might not be in a couple of months here. 4 years of friendship and we never did anything stupid like this - stupid Ryan comes along and now he's pulling this crap? How does that happen?

And at least I was being a responsible alcoholic (calling for a ride!).

everything happened so quick. I didn't even have time to think straight (as if I could). I was in such shock over what my friends were doing then all the lights and excitement - I got scared. I don't even know if I ran, or if I just tripped!

well obviously they piled on all the charges they could - i suppose this is so it can be used to reach a plea agreement and stuff - but anyway, what i remember is burglary, possession of stolen goods (though they were in the car and the building, not on me), resisting arrest, public intoxication (i dont' know what public was around for me to have bothered?), i can't remember what/if else.

Well, it's kinda like if you stand in the middle of the road. You wouldn't be at fault if you got hit by a car, but you still increased your chance of getting hit.

There are things you can do to avoid being involved in crime and bad times in general. Not drinking is a good first step.

This may just be "rock bottom" for you. Learn from it.

And hey, if you're on Yahoo Answers, how bad are things?

you should talk first to a lawyer. You are in big trouble. Your best shot I believe is to tell your story to the District attorney and try to convince him that you were not involved.

Running from the cops was not a good thing because it makes you look guilty.

You can hope your friends tell the cops you weren't involved and were drunk asleep in the car.

What were the charges? Did you take a breathe test? Did they anything on person?

1) get a lawyer

2) get a lawyer

3) stop waisting your time pleading here and save it for the courtroom.

4) get a good lawyer
