That is not true... if you get married in any state does that mean your marriage is only recognized in that state? I think not.

No it is not true. I got married in Las Vegas (Clark county) one and a half year ago and I live in Chicago- I was able to change my name, file taxes in Illinois- so the wedding you have there is recognized in every state (as well as outside of US- foreigners get married there too, all they need is some special documents so it is valid in other countries, and of course it costs extra $.)

In order to have a legal marriage, a ceremony must be performed in the State of Nevada within one year from date of issuance of the marriage license by any person licensed or authorized to perform ceremonies in Nevada. The ceremony may be performed in any Wedding Chapel, Church or the Civil Marriage Commissioner's Office. These marriages are recognized throughout the world.

No, as long as you have a valid marriage license from the court house. I got married there in 2003 and my marriage was recognized everywhere.

no - it's valid worldwide. Pick up your licence at the Marriage Licence Bureau with $55 cash (you'll need i.d) and you'll be able to send for an official copy of your marriage certificate 10 days after the ceremony (you'll get a form to do this at the Marriage Licence Bureau).

If this was the case, there would be a whole lot of illegally-married couples walking around.

Of course it's recognized everywhere. Someone's pulling your leg, and you're falling for it.
