Is this pandering at it's worst?

It cynical politics at its worst. This was nothing more than throwing a bone to a vocal minority who vote on a single issue. It's nothing but a rubber stamp. I mean why fix hard stuff like runaway costs of health care, housing and education? Or why take a hard look at an insurance industry that is scamming billions of dollars from your citizens with bogus promises, especially, when you can just act surprised AFTER the next hurricane? Why risk losing those big money contributors when you can just pass meaningless legislation like this for a few give'm votes?

If the peoples' representatives vote for it, it isn't "pandering" but it is "listening to the voice of the people", as you people so often tell me regarding Congressional Democrat voting.

And let's not forget (if some of you ever knew at all) that the legalization of abortion was a state decision prior to the outrageous Roe v. Wade decision. At least this call for a vote has meaning and will actually take effect as law, unlike the Democrat's stupid non-binding war vote, or the stupid votes by town councils to protest the war or seek Bush's impeachment.

Why do you not call those monumentally idiotic wastes of time "pandering"? Because it's YOUR ego getting stroked by those actions?

Bah!

There are many people in this country who believe the National Government has become too powerful, and that States should be able to decide some of these social issues on their own. Abortion is not as clear and cut an issue as most people portray it. There are a lot of folks who think abortion is wrong and they are all not religious zealots.

Sounds like they are trying to create the same hateful political power to use over people as they did when they made marijuana illegal. They make sure people could get it, then if they stepped out of line and disrespected them or dissented from any of THEIR oppression, suppression, or murder than they could throw them in jail. An unjust law is nothing more than a political tool for oppression. Political prisoners are GOOD little slaves.

Do you have to be religious to value the life of the unborn? I think not.

There is an inherent problem with the Roe V Wade decision in that it's a matter, constitutionally, that should have been left to the states.

And, if you don't think Roe V Wade faces future challenges, I'd say you're wrong.

I bet my first-born that Haley Barbour fathered a child as a young man and then arranged to have his gal take a little trip to N'awlins or Memphis for a long weekend.

No. The worst pandering is your degradation of a serious issue under the debate inherent to a free society. You pander to your closed minded little buddies and slander those who don't "clonethink" like you. It's not only pandering it is downright offensive and bigoted.

It shouldn't with separation of church and State. These whacks have waisted a lot of tax payers money with irrelevant issues that have nothing to do with National Security.
