I would probably try, by any means, to get money from someone I know, either relatives or friends, wherever they are (I think that in this case they happen to be your home country). If that's not possible, as I presume from your question, I think I would look for my country's embassy or consulate in the foreign country, and see if I can't get any help while I'm in there. Perhaps, if you're a legal immigrant, this country even has social programs to help you. Resuming, inform yourself! I think you may find a resolution to your problem, that's not humiliating nor embarrassing.

i might have broken it off via now if it have been me (yet i'm a selfish d-bag lol). actually you prefer somebody who is going to be friendly a minimum of 0.5 of the time. you do not sound like a selfish douche, she kinda does although. not easy. first, females have better advantages, as male yourself , it is tough one.
Begging is one of the ways, but you have to low down your self esteem.
Make friend first, you just have to earn trust from stranger. Simply asking for money will always fail you.

It is always hard for me to ask money from some one stranger.
but if i had to, i will say it frankly, you shouldnt be shameful for that. all of us some times need money.
it is not shameful to need some thing.
