I have removed ink and marker from my son's shirts with a product called Oops. It works for a lot of different stains. I just dampen a cloth(I use an old wash cloth) and dab at the stain until it's gone and then launder as normal. I have not had any problem with colors fading. It smells strong but works wonders. Good Luck!

Hairspray will get it out. Get a can (not a bottle) of the cheap hairspray like Aqua Net and spray a lot on the spot. Then take a paper towel and blot it until no more of the marker color shows up on the paper towels. when it dries, soak it in cold water for a few hours. Let it dry. You'll probably have to repeat this several times but it does work.

I know that hair spray works on pen; I'm not sure about permanent marker. Try hair spray, and if that doesn't work, you could take it to the dry cleaner and see what they recommend. It might be the case that permanent marker can't be removed from the shirt (hence the name "permanent").

Try greased lightning. It's a stain remover, they sell it at family dollar or H E B.
