Man, its so cheap!!!!!

The tourist hotels/restuarants/places (like Agadir) are about the same as Spain though.

But everyday Morocco is cheap as chips - my b&b room was £3 a night!!

However, you'll have to work for it - they will try to overcharge you at every opportunity. First price is hardly ever the real price - usually quote them half of that back - then they will say something in between which is more than the locals pay, but still bloody cheap.

Morrocco is very cheap, if you are going to Marrakech then try to eat in and around the Medina, it's a lot cheaper, if you go into Gueliz (the new town) it's a lot trendier but the prices go up more. The J'ma al Fna square is a great place at night to go and eat (just be a bit careful of some of the meats if you have a sensitive tum) They set up stalls at sunset and all these little open air cafe's spring up. Just to sit and watch it is fun. However we ate in some of the restaurants around the square where you can sit up the top and watch and they were more expensive and the food wasn't anywhere near as nice. During the day in the square you can grab a freshly squeezed orange juice for next to nothing. And if you are buying anything, haggle like hell, go to walk away if the price seems well over the top (they always start really high) and a really daft tip - they love pens.............. I always try and take some branded ones whenever I go away to countries that are poorer and have always been able to haggle a great price with the pen thrown in!!! Have a great time, it's a whirlwind of a place and you'll love it.

I am American living in Morocco and I can tell you that most things are quite inexpensive here. Here is a listing of some purchases made in my home this past week:

1/2 liter milk: 3 dirhams
1/2 liter Diet Coke: 6 dirhams
1 kilo apples: 7 dirhams
1 kilo graprfruit: 4 dirhams
1 kilo fresh sardines: 12 dirhams
4 pack toilet paper: 7 dirhams
1 screwdriver: 8 dirhams
4 sugar free yogurt: 8 dirhams
1 Snickers bar: 5 dirhams

Hope this helps!

Is Morocco Cheap

2016-11-09 22:45:34 · answer #5 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

in early 2014 its around £1 : 13.5 dirham, so things have got more expensive since these original postings.
Whilst street food (kefta kebab) is cheap (get full for less than £1), restaurant food varies significantly and the top restaurants are now similar in price to the UK.
Taxis, buses and trains are medium priced - make sure that you haggle before getting into a taxi and ...
... when haggling for anything in a souk (local market), start at 1/3rd of the asking price and expect to finish at around 1/2 of that asking price.
Alcohol (beer and wine) is similar to Uk prices outside of London - a bottle of good red in a restaurant will cost £10 - £20.
So Morocco is good value, for local foods its cheap but prices focussed on tourists are not particularly cheap.

Marrakesh is a town that sums up all of Morocco's exotic North African appeal, notice it with hotelbye . The city's title offered the basis for the title of the country itself, punctuation out that town's significance down the ages. Within the bustle of the city key you'll find old and new clashing and blending, which could make some tourists almost dizzy. Snake charmers and clean shop touts equally contend for your attention amid a loud, colourful bustle that encapsulates Morocco's vivid soul. For several readers, Marrakesh's labyrinth Medina (Old City) section may be the town's star attraction. The thin alleyways certainly are a kaleidoscope of colors, scents and sounds. Is likely to function as the sightseeing highlight of one's trip; as well as the only wandering is meant to vibrant maze.

For a tourist, it's cheap. Here's a pretty accurate breakdown of prices:

Bottle of Coke: 5dh
Bottle of water: 3 dh
6 eggs: 9 dh
Loaf of Moroccan bread: 2.5 dh
Train from Casablanca - Marrakech (3.5 hrs):
(1st class: 125dh, 2nd class: 84dh)

Restaurant meal in ville nouvelle: 25dh+
Restaurant pizza: 30-60dh
Tajine in medina: 25-40dh
Orange juice in Djemaa al Fna: 2.5dh
Brochettes in medina: 20-40dh

Food costs also depend on the city. Casa and Marrakech are probably the most expensive, then Fez and Rabat, then Meknes and Tangier. Of course, villages and small towns are much cheaper.

Morocco is very cheap - just got back today! 100 dirhams is about £6. I guess it depends on what part you go to - i stay in Marakesh (Hivernage district). a meal for two in Hivernage would be about £6! - go the Medina and the same meal will cost about £1.50. It is very cheap!. Day to day things are so cheap. transport is very cheap - you can take a taxi for about five miles - cost £1.50 (20 dirhams).

for 16 dirhams you can get a full meal in many street restuarants, if you know where to shop things can be pretty cheap,

try to steer clear from big shops like macdees and topshop etc

stick to your friends parents and theyll guide you bcoz sum moroccans may try to fleece you outta your money

in normal shops most snacks are about 2-3 dirhams things are pretty cheap over there if you know where to shop

you need any other advice email me xxxxxxxxxxxxx
