From the 4th thru the 10th grades I had to walk about 1 mile to catch the bus and sometimes we did have between 3 to 5 feet of snow. That was after milking 150 cows before I got ready for school.

Gee, people sure did live far away from schools in those days...that's the same thing my Dad use to say. He'd always bring it up when I complained about walking 1 mile to school. It wasn't too bad if the weather was nice, but other times it was miserable. I finally got a job after school when I was a jr. in high school just so I had a "good" reason to use the car!

I lived in the city during Jr high school and walked one mile each way. Once in the pouring drenching rain I was walking with my head down and walked head first into a bus stop sign.
Next thing I knew I was in a place with all these little ppl that dressed funny. Some of it was scary, but most of it was beautiful. There was a wicked, wicked witch (gr 7 math teacher) and a beautiful witch...(drama teacher) and 3 very different men who helped me. Get home. Home to being drenched and lying on the street with a crowd around me... somehow you all were there with me .....

I think I had it worse. I had to walk about 3 miles, and a big part of it through the ghetto.

Yeah I did, it was about 3-4 miles, but it was in a very trashy ghetto area, so I really didn't walk, I ran, was more like it.

lol I walked out of school on a day just because i wanted to talk to my boyfriend at the time.... (who i am now married to) and i ended up walking home to school just to call him. i walked 1 hour and 45 min. through direct sunlight lol it killed me, but i survived, but boy i was glad when i got home because i didn't have anything to drink with me lol. there is nothing better than walking through a wonderful hot day without anything to drink and then not to forget the back pack that seemed heavier than ever on that day lol i decided never to do that again lol
