The original H1(military style) got about 7 or 8 mpg at best, although the 07 diesel may get slightly better. Unless you go off-road all the time, it's a very poor choice of vehicle. The H2 will be required to have an EPA mileage sticker soon, and the estimates I hear are 9mpg city and 12 highway. My neighbor has one and has never seen over 10 mpg. Even the smaller H3 is a pig on gas. All Hummers have among the lowest customer satisfaction rating of any vehicle brand, according to JD Powers.

There is no info for the Hummer on the governments MPG website
www.fueleconomy.gov
because of the vehicles GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is over a certain weight. These heavier vehicles are exempt from having to post their fuel ratings on their new car window sticker. I would dare to say the older original Hummer with its Diesel engine probaly gets about 10 mpg. I just had a 1999 Ford F250 Diesel that averaged 14 mpg. I hope this helps ... God Bless!

I hope you are not considering buying anything from HUMMER. The Hummer H1 gets an average of 11mpg (imperial gallon) combined city/hwy. It is slapped with a $4000 tax penalty in Canada for wasting so much gas.
