I had a infestation of small flies in my apartment recently. The flies had clear wings and could not fly very well but seemed to be in groups. They seem to stay in groups..they came in through my window sill, I used Raid to get the flies to die...but what are they and where are they coming from and what can I do to keep them out? I live in Central Florida....

I think you got infested with termites. Call an exterminator.

They may have been fruit flies. On the other hand, you could be describing gnats. Either way, thoroughly clean your house and replace the screens on the window. Fly paper couldn't hurt either.

Maybe they were fruit flies. I live in Florida too.

sounds like fruit flies. We often get them in our flat. Especially bad if I don't eat my fruit quickly! They tend to hover in front of my computer screen.
Try getting a cat. Mine has taken to eating them which is harmless to her and very helpful to us!
