Do a search for bad debt credit cards, and you'll see a number of companies offering cards that might be available to you. Capital One and Vanquis do special cards for debtors, although the interest rates are a lot higher than normal cards!

It can help to rebuild your credit though as long as you make regular payments.

DO NOT apply for every card going as one person suggested. Each time you apply for a card its recorded on your credit file. More than a couple of tries in 6 months can actually lower your credit score even further.

You worked hard by not paying your obligations to get yourself bad credit in the first place so before you ask a bank to trust you again for no good reason, you need to budget.

Once you have saved $500 and show you have changed your overspending (that got you bad credit) you can apply for a secured credit card. They freeze the $500 in your name and issue a credit card against it. After 2 years they give you back your $500, provided you have been paying the credit card as agreed.

ANd defintly do not apply for every card out there, as multiple credit request lowers your credit score even farther. Wait till you have the money before submitting applications or you'll damage your own credit further.

Apply for every single card out there. But don't get your hopes up, most credit companies are linked and if you have been turned down then it is more than likely you will be again. If you have outstanding debts owing then your chances are slim. If you are by chance accepted by a company then you may be paying back a higher rate of interest. Credit is bad if you can't afford to pay it back, the only winners are the debt collectors so be careful.

" Reward credit cards reward you when you spend on the credit card. Normally, you can collect rewards through 3 ways.

* It involves earning cash back on the card, it depends on the amount you spend.
* Next one involves giving points to the customers. They can be redeemed for gifts like cosmetics, shoes, water heater, mobiles and other goodies which the credit card company offers.
* The last method of reward is providing airmiles. Airmiles are highly popular reward, as many customers like to redeem them for free flights or flight upgrades. Whatever type of reward credit card you opt for, carefully note the amount or rate at which rewards will accrue and also read carefully other terms and conditions."

I think it increases your chances of getting a card if you have bad credit!! You are more likely to pay interest!!!

You can improve your credit rating by paying off small amounts regularly. Look up your rating over the net - think its equifix or something that will tell you for £2

I have had a bankruptcy just 2 years ago, and I got a credit card with Capital one. Doesnt have horrible fees (some start you out with a $300 credit limit, but give you $179 worth of fees, processing fee, membership fee....blah blah blah)...... mine only has a $19 membership fee........as long as you use it responsibly once you first get one then your credit will slowly get better.
