Which are the major gas companies in the US?

Companies like Exxon, Chevron etc. Which other ones are there (I'm in the UK which is why I don't know).

ExxonMobil (Exxon and Mobil stations), Chevron Texaco (Chevron and Texaco stations), Shell Oil (Shell stations), Unocal ("76" stations).

There are also regional chains (Beacon, Ultramar, Valero, etc.), which are better known some places than others.

A few retailers (Costco, Safeway, and Food Lion, for example) also have started to develop gas stations, possibly inspired by Tesco...
