Which way is the wind blowing today?
There you will find your answer.
Liberals model themselves after the field of wheat. All uniform and indistinguishable from the rest and bending to the slightest breeze. The government takes the form of the farmer to which they are completely dependent and owe everything for existence.
Conservatives model themselves after wild oak forest. Each inhabitant unique with its own purpose. Some trees grow thick and tall gathering the lions share of the light. During life, in exchange for its mighty stature, the oak feeds the forest by dropping its acorns. In death other plants spring up to fill the void left by the decomposing giant.

My thoughts on what a liberal believes today is
A Liberal is someone that is looking for a better way of doing things and not going to just swallow what is force fed to them because it is the way it always has been done.
If it was not for liberal thinking people we would still be using ferry boats to cross the East River in New York City.
If it was not for liberal thinking people we would still be standing in lines waring read coats firing at the opposing force with muskets.
If it was not for liberal thinking people we would still be answering to the Queen of England rather than have our own Constitution and method of government.
I do not believe in BushCo and the lack of Congressional Over-sight the Republicans allowed when they had power.
I also do not believe in all of what the Democrats espouse to. I think the two party system has not served We the People and believe it is time for a third party, the Peoples Party to take power and really serve the needs and welfare of We The People. It may take the realization of how badly BushCo has robbed our treasury to get people thinking of a major change like that though, We will see just how bad it gets when the depression comes as a result to their actions.

Being liberal means, to me, that you believe in a very old tradition--Do as ye will, so ye do me no harm. Thus, how someone can simultaneously advocate choice (meaning, giving the mother, since the life in question is in debate), and anti-war (because war is doing harm to others without cause). Liberalism means that we encourage people to do good things to each other. At the same time, we recognize that the powerful and wealthy tend not to do good things for people, and that the very systems of employment, education, geography, etc. are fundamentally rigged against the poor, the non-white, the non-male (the Subaltern, the Other). Thus, we turn to the government, the only organization with enough power and resources to counter and compel this inequity, to provide recompense and balancing tools to help protect The Other--thus, a preference for Affirmative Action, for laws that protect women and children, for Universal Health Care, etc. Liberalism is aligned, generally, to the notion that unbridled capitalism will never solve the inequities in the present society--it, in fact, is causing them. Liberalism, for me, rejoices in the promise of equality and freedom from want promised by the ideal communist state, but simultaneously rejoices in the promise of freedom from unecessary control in private activities promised by the ideal liberterian/anarchist state.

I think that perhaps the basic difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals believe government can do things to help the citizenry. Conservatives believe government action typically hurts the citizens. Things such as the progressive income tax, social security and medicare were all "liberal" ideas that stuck. Liberals traditionally place a greater interest on civil rights and a less interest on personal property rights, and in my opinion the opposite is true of conservatives.
Conservatives like Reagen believed in "trickle down" economics, that is economic benefits to business in America, eventually trickles down and helps the common man. Liberals would tend to believe that direct help to the common man is better and that the spending such help would bring, places more capital in circulation, eventually helping business.

I know that liberals are hypocrites. How do they believe
in humanitarian rites when they are pro-abortion?
They believe in Individual rites but they want ban guns
from law biting citizens.
Would they be against war if some country came to
invade us? Gee.... it sounds like hypocricy to me.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR TROOPS!!!!

Liberals do not believe in anything. They feel your pain, and try to implement a government program to cure it. The problem is, the cure is worse than the pain.

Human rights, equal protection under the law, the Constitution of the United States of America, environmental protection, the right of people to think for themselves and make their own decisions about their lives.
The idea that the government should serve all of its citizens, not just a rich few.
We oppose mass murder, torture, rape, environmental destruction, imposition of a religion on all, the Imperial Presidency, starvation.
These are short lists. I'm tired now.
