I have figured out that the one thing constant in life is change. Life is such a roller-coaster, ups and downs, I have accepted that but I need to find a good way to handle it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, you're absolutely right. Life IS a roller coaster! In fact, I'm writing a book of poetry and articles entitled "CHANGES: Nothin' Ever Stays The Same".

Repeat after me... "Tomorrow is another day... tomorrow is another day". Do this EACH time things get crazy or seem hopeless. It seems that one day everything could be upside down with no way out in sight. But, somehow, someway, a fresh new day can make everything look different & can seem to work things out little by little.

Or, if it's a nice day, force yourself to get out & take a ride along the countryside (not the city) while listening to whatever music relaxes you. (I'm a poet, & I love listening to John Denver poetically sing of the beauty of our surroundings... as I'm seeing it for myself... and his background music is so uplifting!) ...It's hard to feel bad as you feel the warmth of the sunshine on your shoulders or see a huge bed of bright wildflowers line the roadway, Or a colorfully, breathtaking sunset (or sunrise), sunrays flowing over a mountain, the stillness of the morning, or a walk in a warm rain. Really NOTICE these things and "breathe" them in.

Also, if you are a person with faith, prayer helps.... and thank God for what you DO have (list them out loud).

Blessings to you!

I had the same problem until I was honest enough to realize it is only a roller coaster if you make it one. I will just live evryday one day at a time, moment by moment, this means let things happen that out out of your contol and things that are in your control make them happen a certian way. Another thing I had to figure out is choices, sometimes we make choices that make bad horrible outcomes, so weigh every decision and make sure it is ethical and honest in the end because a bad decision will catch up to you and cause you problems. So start today by examining your life and the reasons why you are on a roller coaster, especially if it was choice driven....and lastly though you may not understand, you have to have a relationship with God. He helps you when you are in trouble and he helps you when you do not know what to do if you pray he will be your guide-try him on a tough decision and watch things unfold correclty. So the best way to handle it is prayer and strength (Isaiah 41:10-13) from God and making moral and ethical decision from the start. I hope this helps!

Just hold on to something and enjoy the ride! A roller coaster can be fun too.

Although I don't know if this whole roller coaster metaphor works... The downs are the best parts in a ride. But the below comment about removing all your valuables from your pockets does fit the metaphor.

Life is all about adapting to change. Things will happen in all of ours lives such as death, job loss, relationship and family problems, etc etc. Sometimes we have fare warning other times we don't. We all have things happen in our lives, both good and bad. But how we adapt to those changes is what defines us. My advice is this: worry about and love yourself first, surround yourself with good positive people, be as prepared for things as you can, realize things happen for a reason, and lastly......have faith and confidence things will be ok.

It's best to get off the roller coaster. Get off, consume mass amounts of drugs and alcohol, and go insane. Then you'll go to a place where they give you more drugs. If that doesnt' work, shoot everyone you see with a shotgun.

Remember that God doesn't put anything on you that you and he cannot handle. Pray alot and know that you'll get through it. Hard times are what make you stronger and anything that happens could always be worse. I'm not a holy-roler by no means, but I truly believe that if you let him, he will be there.

Strap in, pull that bar down to its locking position, remove all valuables from pockets and remember, above all things, put your hands up in the air. Much more fun if you don't hold on

i totally understand you b/c i feel like i'm on an emotional rollercoaster right now. during the good times, you should enjoy it. during the not so good times, you should find an outlet so that you won't keep all the bad things inside. for me, i keep a journal so that i can write everything down. it helps me get it out of my system.

Pace yourself. Enjoy yourself. And concentrate your energies only towards the things in your life you can change. Oh, and once in a while, scream your head off.
