Malcolm x was a great man and yes both him and martin Luther where fighting for the same thing. But you have to remember some times when you are beaten and see Ur people murdered lynch for no reason and you keep trying peacefully to do the right thing and no one listens some time's the only way is to fight back ; this is what we all teach our kids if they keep on taking beatings from a bully in school and most of us would react the same if some one was to hurt us. I am not saying this is the correct way of doing things but some times actions speak louder than words. And the fact that he was Muslim had nothing to do with the way he expressed how he feel ed coz we all deal with things in very different ways. Malcolm x was a great man' Martin Luther & we must never forget what they did for us. And the sad things is they have more than one thing in comon they both got murdred fighting for freedom. & STILL even till this day ppl still do not get treated as eqwal's. May Allah bless them both Ammen.

I think the reason have so much praise for Martin Luther King is because he was known as a man of peace, and participated in peaceful demonstrations. Both men were fighting for the same course, but many feel that Malcolm X had no problem with using physical violence. I don't really think that it has much to do with the fact that he was a Muslim, He was part of the Nation of Islam? (Don't quote me on this).

But Like you I feel that both men should be given the status that they both tried to fight for the course, and plight of African Americans. Through both of these men, people changed their attitudes towards the rights for equality. Respect to the both of them .
