What a contradiction...

"aimed specifically at gay, lesbian and transgender retirees"

"regardless of a sexual preference they are entitled to live in"

So let me get this straight(no pun intended)..."straight" people in the street have less needs, and gay people have more important needs(validation of sexual preference?), so let's open up a "special" center.

Maybe Johny/Kim need a new school to attend because they don't identify with mainstream sexuality, and well, that's a reason to open a "new" facility, instead of addressing the real problem(s).

Reminds me of the garbage from Oprah...open a school in Africa because inner city youth just wanted materialistic junk, so why serve your own needs/agenda. Isn't that the definition of selfish?

This was designed to help old, homosexual homeless people have a place to live where they wouldn't have to hide who they are. What's your problem?

The area this development is serving is the second largest concentration of GLBT people in the United States. This is simply an effort to cater to a demand that already exists - I think that the article also makes it clear that the vast majority of other low income housing facilities in reality cater to heterosexuals.

And if you think that people being gay is the core problem here, well, you need help.

All I have to say is "judge not lest ye be Judged" Gay and Lesbians should have just the same amount of rights. Marriage, health care, the whole works but see we don't get that because our country is run by close minded morons who know no better. So they open a house so that elderly gay and lesbian women have a place to stay so they don't have to grow old alone. And then you come on here and bash it. Nice real nice...(notice the sarcastic overtone.)

How is this any different than retirement villages for senior citizens of the Jewish faith.

Most people, regardless, have an inate desire to be around those with whom they feel most comfortable.

By posing this question, do you mean to indicate that you have a problem with providing affordable housing to people (without mention of their sexuality) who are in the final years of their lives?

Thou dost protest too much!

I would say that people who would be attracted to such a place would like to be free of the bigotry and hatred of some people who mistakenly call themselves "Holy."
