Great trade. Peavy is much better then Smoltz. Peavy is young, Smoltz will be 40. Peavy was battling injuries all last year which led to poor numbers. Peavy will be better then Smoltz this year and Rios for Pierre is better for you too. Pierre is one of the most over-rated fantasy players. All's hes good for is steals. Take a look at Dave Roberts 15 rounds later if you want someone with the same EXACT numbers as Juan Pierre. Rios had a staph infection last year which kept his stats down. Overall, great trade.

Good deal for you, but not without some risks. Rios a great first half, but next to worthless after returning from injury. I still prefer what he can do over what Pierre will do. Pierre is steals a decent batting average but not much power. If the Rios of last year's first half returns and I think he will, you'll get 20 plus steals with power and a solid batting average. Peavy is an upgrade over Smoltz if healthy. So far he is, but I've heard experts in the Padre organization have some concern his pitching motion could mean shoulder problems down the road. Even with those reservations about the trade, it was a good move for you. Sometimes you need to take a risk to improve your team.

Yes, I think so. Peavy and Rios appear to be on the upswing while I am not so sure I can say the same of what you gave up. Rios has the chance to be spectacular. Smoltz eventually is going to disappoint as he isn't getting any younger. Pierre gives you a giant zilch in power and rbis. Peavy should have a very good year.

Most likely.

Smoltz and Peavy will put up roughly the same numbers this year so those two pretty much cancel each other out.

Rios will almost certainly have a better fantasy year than Pierre. Granted Pierre will probably get at least 20 SB more, he will hit less HR and have a lot less RBI.

I would probably make that deal in a heart beat if I were you.

Depends. I personally think this was pretty fair. You traded steals for Power. Alex Rios was smokeing until the freak injury and if he does play decently (and he is batting 4th) This trade looks nice on the Pierre for Rios Side.

Now As long as Peavy isnt hurt I think you win on that trade. Peavy will get a better ERA, in a better park and more SO. Thats pretty damn good.!

I would do this trade.

Not a good deal, a great deal... Rios is a breakout stud and Peavy will is a potential ace, may be a wash with Smotlz. But Rios is an upgrade over Pierre for sure.

You rocked him. Peavy >> Smoltz and Rios has a higher ceiling than Pierre. You drop a few SB's and gain in every other cat.

You got an outstanding deal here. You gave up some serious SBs but that is about it. Smoltz is a steady producer and you know what you will get. Peavy can be a superstar. His K/9 and WHIP are off the charts. He just needs to stay healthy. You got a great deal here.

Depends. You downgraded a pitcher in exchange in upgrading at OF. Hard to know unless I knew the rest of your roster. If you're deep at SP and needed OF then I would say you made a good trade. I do think the downgrade from Smoltz to Peavy is less than the upgrade from Pierre to Rios. I know Pierre had better numbers overall but if you prorate Rios' numbers before he got his staph infection Rios is better.
